More Baby Gifts

Green and Blue Baby Pants

Since my friends seem to be having babies faster than I can make baby gifts, it has been on my to do list for a while to make a big batch of baby pants and shoes, since the previous ones I have made have all been given away by now.  I cut out a bunch of fabric for pants and shoes the other day and then sewed these all up one (long) evening, remembering once again that it is easier to cut out lots of fabric than to actually sew it all up into finished items.  The set above again uses Made by Rae's basic newborn pants pattern and the infant sized version of my favorite baby shoe pattern.

Fun Pink Baby Pants and Shoes

The rest of the pants are the 3-6 month size of Rae's Big Butt Baby Pants, and an approximately 3-6 month size of the baby shoes (the regular pattern enlarged by 5%).   The set above is for a baby that was born about a month ago (I told you I haven't been able to keep up!), and is made with Anne Kelle's Remix fabric.

Vegetable Big Butt Baby Pants

The vegetable-cuffed pants (above) and blueberry shoes (below) all use fabric which I had bought on a whim thinking it was fun and then never really had a use for, other than a few earlier baby bibs.  I think this was a great use and anticipate more baby gifts from these fabrics in the future!  These are particularly fitting since they are going to friends who are expecting, one of whom has been an organic farmer.

Blueberry Baby Shoes

I also made an extra set of shoes, in addition to the pants and shoes at the top, that are as yet unclaimed - trying to be prepared with some gifts at the ready although I should probably make more!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!

  1. cute...I've been sewing little skirts and purses for my granddaughter lately. To be posted soon, but I don't want to show her mom yet!

  2. Very cute! Thanks for posting the links to your earlier work and also the patterns too. Yes, it is easier to "batch" sew, just requires a little more patience initially.

  3. Hi Kate! These are adorable! I love those little pants, and the shoes seem like the perfect companion for them. The little vegetable set is too cute-- I bet your friends will love them!
